REACH Community and Youth Agency, Inc. is a community-centered, non-profit organization providing social, recreational, informational, educational and advocacy programs for children, youth and families of Commack and Half Hollow Hills. Since 1972, REACH CYA has identified the concerns and needs of youth, parents and schools, and offered activities that develop positive attitudes, self esteem and problem solving skills. |

Over 1300 youth participate in CYA programs yearly. Programs are held in the schools, Manasquan building in Half Hollow Hills and Teen Recreation Center at Old Farms School in Commack. In addition to our two sites, Youth Workers facilitate programs and outreach in schools and other popular teen locations throughout the community. (To learn more about the programs REACH CYA offers, click here). REACH CYA also administers before and after school child care through our Children’s Center. The Children’s Center is a New York State licensed child care program for elementary school age children in Half Hollow Hills. The Children’s Center also offers a half day Preschool Program for 4 year olds in Half Hollow Hills. REACH CYA is staffed by an Executive Director, Assistant Director, Children’s Center Director, adult Youth Workers, Before and After School Child Care Workers, NYS Certified Preschool Teachers and Teacher Assistants, a Secretary and a Bookkeeper. All staff are trained to keep pace with the latest developments in their fields. Student interns and volunteers contribute over 800 hours a year in program support.
REACH CYA is governed by a community based Board of Directors made up of youth and adults. Board Members serve for a minimum of one year, attend monthly meetings and work collectively to ensure that the best possible services are provided. Board Members work in areas of program development, community relations, finance and fundraising. Our Board of Directors represents REACH CYA in the community and works to develop awareness and interest in the programs and activities.
REACH CYA is seeking adult and youth volunteers from the Commack and Half Hollow Hills communities for its Board of Directors. Meetings are once a month, typically the second Monday of the month, 7-9pm. Call (631) 549-9417 for more information.
